About
The anthology "A Promise of Red" showcases and celebrates the dynamic between Ryuunosuke Naruhodou and Kazuma Asougi. The main theme is the red thread of fate, inspired by Asougi's Hachimaki. Works can be either platonic, friendly or romantic! It features illustrations, spreads, comics, writing and special collaborations between writers and artists.
Since this is a for-profit fan anthology, we strongly believe in being transparent when it comes down to zine costs with both participants and customers. We keep all receipts and log all transactions (with the financial mod’s details removed). A link to the financial document will be provided to contributors after pre-orders open and will be available. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding finances!
Proceeds will go to production and manufacturing first, if/when we hit breakeven, contributors and mods will automatically receive a copy of the zine. Any surplus funds will then be distributed to participants of the zine.
If we do not make enough money to share among the artists, we will donate the amount to charity instead.

Greetings! The name's Bu, Naruhodou Ryuunosuke lover first, AsoRyuu devotee second! DGS had me captive in the first hour playing, then AsoRyuu got me in an iron grip ever since. This should be my first time participating in a DGS project, so hopefully my experience participating in zines & modding for other projects will be proved helpful!

Can’t wait to make this something special!
FAQ
What's the theme?
The theme is the concept of the red thread of fate, inspired by Kazuma Asougi's hachimaki. The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of place, time, or circumstances. This thread may stretch, tangle, but it will never break— much like the relationship that Ryuunosuke Naruhodou and Kazuma Asougi share. This myth is similar to the Western concept of a soulmate or a destined partner. It is not strictly required to adhere to the theme in a literal sense, it is meant for inspiration, the intent of the zine is to simply highlight their bond and relationship! Spoilers are allowed to be featured.
Are AUs or crossovers allowed?
Crossovers outside of the Ace Attorney universe are not allowed. However, AUs and not canon interpretations are very welcome!
There are a lot of TGAA/DGS zines going on at this time, is the zine accommodating its schedule for that?
With the way zines work, our schedules may unfortunately overlap a bit. However we've allocated a 4 month long creation period to ensure it won't overlap with other projects too much and giving artists who'd still like to participate more time! You can access our schedule to see if it's something you're able to partake in yourself.
Can I apply for multiple roles?
Yes, you're more than welcome to apply for any spot on the zine you'd like. We only accept for either the artist or writer role, however, artist contributors can apply to multiply roles however: page artist, spot artist, comic artist and merch artist.
What's the rating?
This zine is SFW.
How many contributors are there?
Including contributing moderators, tentatively we'll focus on having 30 artists, 5 writers and 3 merch artists. Please keep in mind that this is tentative, it depends on the interest check as well as the number of writers that apply to the zine, we will allow more accordingly.
What merch will there be?
This will most likely be dependant on the outcome of the interest check, so far it will be most likely prints and postcards, sticker sheets, acrylic or wooden charms, and a special bookmark. We were thinking of doing stretch goals, depending on interest!
Is this invite only?
No. However we will guest invite artists/writers first and then open applications. Please read more below about how contributors are chosen.
How are contributors chosen?
We guest invite contributors we admire and have actually seen draw or frequently draw AsoRyuAso works. During the interest check, people can suggest artists and writers they would love to see. We'd absolutely love to hear your recommendations and will adjust our invitations accordingly! After the interest check, applications will open for the remaining spots, please read the app info for the requirements regarding these applications!
This project is not run the way I would run it. How can I express my concerns and dissatisfaction?
Please feel free to let us know through our Interest Check! However once it is finished, you won't be able to influence decision making unless you're one of our contributors. Please understand that this is a fan project run by just some fans who just love these two characters. It is ultimately our passion project which we run based on our preferences.

Contributors have to be 18 and above at the time of acceptance, since they will need a PayPal in their own name in order to receive their share of profits from the zine if there are any.
All contributors are required to have a Discord account. All communication will be on the zine's server for organization and simplicity.
Artist
It's strongly recommended that at least one of your samples includes Asougi Kazuma and Naruhodou Ryuunosuke. This will allow us to see how you'd illustrate them in your style. We will be asking you to provide a portfolio of sample work.
Your portfolio must include a minimum of three finished illustrations.
Your portfolio can be a Google Drive folder, an art blog, or any other form of shareable link. As long as we can access it easily and see your pieces, it's fine!
For page artists and illustrators, examples of fully rendered pieces with a background are recommended in your portfolio. However they are not a requirement.
PAGE and SPREAD ARTIST
Will be asked to create a full a page or a spread illustration.
ILLUSTRATOR and SPOT ARTIST
Artists can volunteer to be assigned to a writer or do spot illustrations. Illustrators will create 1 full page illustration based on a scene from the chosen fic, spot artists will create a minimum of 2 spot illustrations to intersperse with the chosen fic.

The minimum for comic is 1 page, and maximum is 8 pages. Comics may be full color or black and white.
MERCH ARTIST
We recommend previous examples of merch of the type you would like to create for the zine.

We will be asking you to provide a portfolio of sample work.
Your portfolio must include a minimum 2 fic samples. If there are more than three fic samples, we will choose to read 2 at random.
At least one fic sample should at least be 1.5k-2.5k words.
Your portfolio can be a Google Drive folder, an AO3 account, or any other form of shareable link. As long as we can access it easily and see your pieces, it's fine!
It's a plus to have one of your samples to be related to AsoRyuu or has them featured in it in some way. Anything DGS will work as well. This will allow us to see how you characterize the cast.
